Citibank and the global push towards renewable energy: leading companies in the fight

  • Citibank has committed to using 100% renewable energy by 2020.
  • Partnership with Green-e and new solar projects in Costa Rica to reduce carbon footprint.
  • Other companies such as Bank of America and Apple are adopting similar strategies.

Citibank announced a few days ago its commitment to cover 100% of its energy consumption with renewable energy in 2020, as part of a global strategy to minimize the environmental impact of its operations. This ambitious goal is part of a broader sustainability plan that includes both reducing emissions and promoting new investments in clean energy.

“We are committed to using renewable energy to meet the energy needs of all our operations, while continuing to offer financing for energy efficiency and clean energy projects for our clients,” said Michael Corbat, CEO of Citibank.
