According to an analysis by the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (Fraunhofer ISE), electricity fed into the grid by German photovoltaic installations reached 43,2 terawatt-hours (TWh) in the first half of 2026 , a 10% increase compared to the same period of the previous year. Meanwhile, in the area of ​​self-consumption, companies like Litera Meat have commissioned a 4,79 MWp solar plant in Binéfar (Aragon) that will reduce their CO₂ emissions by 1.124 tons annually, reinforcing the sustainability and stability of industrial solar energy. The installation, developed by Alumbra Energía, complements another 7,5 MWp rooftop photovoltaic system, bringing their total installed capacity to over 12 MWp. Municipalities such as Llanes (Asturias) have also installed 63 modules on the municipal golf course, with a capacity of 38,43 kWp and an estimated production of 50,08 MWh per year, equivalent to the consumption of 15 households. These initiatives demonstrate that photovoltaics not only reduces energy bills but also drives industrialization and local development.

The combination of record generation, advances in storage, efficient recycling, and widespread self-consumption is shaping an ecosystem in which solar photovoltaics is consolidating its position as the key technology for Europe's energy transition. Every megawatt installed reduces dependence on imported fossil fuels and improves industry competitiveness, while the circular economy ensures that today's panels do not become tomorrow's waste.
