The autonomous community of Extremadura is preparing to take a significant step forward on the international stage, having been chosen to host the General Assembly of the European Federation of Agencies and Regions for Energy and the Environment (FEDARENE). This event, which will take place in May of 2027It has established itself as the most important annual meeting point for those managing the energy transition and strategies against climate change on the continent.
The news was made official a few days ago during the 2026 edition held in Modena, Italy. At the event, Rachel Tully, who coordinates European projects for the AGENEX agencyShe was in charge of presenting the Extremadura proposal and outlining the first details of what this event will be like, which will position the region as a benchmark in the management of natural resources and sustainability.
A showcase for regional sustainability

In the specific case of Extremadura, AGENEX's integration into this network was formalized in 2023, during the assembly held in Kilkenny, Ireland. They are not alone on this path, as Spain has fourteen agencies in the federation, including those of Andalusia, Castile and León or the Basque Country, which demonstrates the weight of our country in the European energy transition.
Organizing this meeting in May 2027 will mean that Extremadura will be at the center of the debate on climate neutrality and regional cooperation, leveraging its infrastructure and current experience in renewable energy management to lead the European conversation.
